Warvin Organization for Child Rights is a local, non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 2024 in Sinjar, Iraq. The name "Warvin" comes from the Kurdish language and means "a place of tenderness" symbolizing a safe place where children are protected, cared for, and empowered to heal and flourish.

Warvin was established in response to the long-term impact of the 2014 Yazidi genocide and years of conflict, displacement, and trauma experienced by children and families in Sinjar- Iraq.The idea for Warvin began in 2018, when our founder, Sadoon Barakat, witnessed the positive impact of the Friends of Waldorf Education's Emergency Pedagogy programme on Yazidi children living in displacement camps, Inspired by the transformative work of Friends of Waldorf Education in supporting crisis-affected children, Warvin was founded to provide trauma-informed psychosocial support and quality education that help children recover, rebuild resilience, and regain hope for the future.

Our work is guided by a child-centred, rights-based approach that combines Emergency Pedagogy, Trauma Pedagogy, psychosocial support, and Waldorf-inspired education. We create safe and inclusive child-friendly environments where children affected by conflict and crises can heal, learn, grow, and thrive. We also work closely with families, educators, and communities to strengthen protective environments, promote children's well-being, and build long-term resilience.

Warvin is committed to protecting children's rights, promoting inclusion, and ensuring that every child regardless of their background or circumstances has the opportunity to develop their full potential in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment.
